Re: Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2010-488, Review of the direct-to-home satellite distribution policy – Final comments from Shaw Direct

Dear Ms. Rathwell,

The Commission is in receipt of Shaw Direct’s final comments dated November 25, 2010. The Commission notes that in its final comments Shaw Direct has requested confidentiality for Appendices A, E and F.

Guided by the provisions of CRTC Circular No. 429, dated August 19, 1998, entitled Guidelines respecting the confidential treatment of annual returns and material or information filed in support of a broadcasting application before the Commission, Shaw Direct’s request for confidentiality has been approved excluding the following:

The Commission considers that this information has already been made public in the past or is available to the public. The Commission considers that the public interest is best served by making this information public.

In light of the above, the Commission directs Shaw Direct to file, by December 8, 2010 at the latest, a new abridged Appendix “A” to reflect the Commission determinations set out above.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Morin

Secretary General
