Subject: Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2009-661, Review of community television policy framework – Request for Extension of Deadline for Submissions

Our reference: 478277

Dear Mr. Armstrong:

This is in response to your letter of 11 January 2010, in which you seek an extension of the due date for written submissions to BNC 2009-661, the call for comments regarding the review of the community television policy framework. You propose a revised due date of 1 March 2010.

The Commission announced the review of the community television policy framework on 22 October 2009 with a 1 February 2010 due date – a lengthy comment period intended to give interested parties a period of over 100 days, in light of other proceedings occurring in the latter part of 2009. The review of the community TV framework has also been scheduled in this manner to provide the Commission with sufficient time to consider the written comments in preparation for the public hearing.

As such, your request for an extension has been respectfully denied.

Sincerely,

[original signed by John Keogh for]

Robert A. Morin,

Secretary General
