CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee – Updated relief implementation plan for area codes 289 and 905
File number: 8698-C12-200908080
1. In Code relief for area codes 289 and 905 in southern Ontario, Telecom Decision CRTC 2010-213, 13 April 2010, the Commission set the relief implementation date for area codes 289 and 905 at 25 March 2013, instead of 24 October 2015 as recommended by the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) ad hoc committee for area code relief planning for area codes 289 and 905 in southern Ontario (the RPC). This advancement was required based on an updated numbering resource utilization forecast that indicated that these area codes would exhaust in March 2014 instead of October 2016.
2. The Commission requested that the RPC update the relief implementation plan to reflect the determinations set out in that decision and re-file the plan for Commission approval.
3. On 11 June 2010, the RPC submitted an updated relief implementation plan for Commission approval. This plan can be found under "Reports" on the 11 June 2010 CISC meeting agenda, which is available on the Commission's website.
4. The Commission has reviewed and approves the above-noted relief implementation plan.
