CHFD-TV Thunder Bay– Deletion of condition of licence

1. The Commission approves an application by Thunder Bay Electronics Limited to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CHFD-TV by deleting the condition of licence that reads as follows:

The licensee shall operate this undertaking as an affiliate of the television network operated by CTV Television Inc.

2. CHFD-TV will operate as an independent local station and will receive its non-local programming from Canwest Global.
3. The Commission received two interventions in connection with this application. Bruce Hyer, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North expressed his support. John Rafferty, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Rainy River commented that the Commission's decision on this matter should contribute to the preservation and enrichment of CHFD-TV's local programming.
4. With respect to Mr. Rafferty's comment, the Commission notes the applicant's commitment to maintain the minimum levels of local programming set out in CHFD-TV Thunder Bay – Licence renewal, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-386, 30 August 2004.
