Re:   Follow-up to Policy 2009-34 regarding the Line-sharing service – Process Matters

Dear Madam, Sir:

In Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2009-34 (Policy 2009-34), the Commission classified the incumbent local exchange carriers' (ILECs) line sharing service [1] as a conditional essential wholesale service.   On 22 May 2009, Commission staff issued letters to Bell Aliant Regional Communications Limited Partnership (Central), Bell Canada and Telus Communications Company requesting that they provide responses to interrogatories regarding their line sharing service.   On the same date, Commission staff issued letters to Bell Aliant (Atlantic Canada), MTS Allstream Inc. and Saskatchewan Telecommunications, requesting that they file costing information regarding their provision of the line sharing service.

Given that the requested information relate to the same service, Commission staff considers it appropriate to combine these proceedings as one proceeding, under File number  8638-C12-200903890.

Commission staff notes that further process will set out after review of these submissions.

Yours truly,

[1] Line-sharing service is a wholesale service that provides access to the high frequency band of the unbundled local copper loop.   Under this service arrangement, the co-located competitor provisions its own DSLAM to offer high-speed Internet service to its end-customers.
