Re:   Review of the regulatory measures associated with confidential customer information and privacy, Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2009-71 – Application for costs

Dear Mr. Lawford:

By letter dated 27 April 2009, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) applied for costs on behalf of the Consumers' Association of Canada and the National Anti-Poverty Organization (the Consumer Groups) with respect to their participation in the proceeding initiated by Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2009-71.

In a separate letter issued today, additional directions on procedure were issued in order to obtain a better understanding of the issues raised in this proceeding.

Consequently, the Commission will not examine PIAC's application for costs at this time. Should the Consumer Groups, as represented by PIAC, choose to participate further into the proceeding, PIAC should refile its application for costs at that time.

Sincerely,
