Dear Sirs:

Re: TCC’s and Bell Canada et al.’s request for an extension to follow-up filings required pursuant to Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-117

In a letter dated 15 January 2009, TELUS Communications Inc. (TCC) and, in a letter dated 16 January 2009, Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership and Bell Canada (Bell Canada et al.) requested a 45 day extension to the timeframe identified in Telecom Decision 2008-117 with respect to the requirement to file wholesale matching speed tariffs.

Commission staff notes that Cybersurf has filed a Part VII application dated 13 January 2009, requesting an enforcement order requiring Bell Canada to file wholesale tariffs for all higher speed ADSL access services provided to retail Internet customers. Commission staff further notes that Cybersurf’s request to consider this application on an expedited basis has since been granted.

In the circumstances, the ILECs are not required to file wholesale matching speed tariffs by 26 January 2009. It is expected that the requests of TCC and Bell Canada et al. for a 45 day extension will be disposed of shortly.

Yours sincerely
