Call for comments respecting the capacity of the Iroquois Falls and Cochrane, Ontario radio markets to support the licensing of new commercial radio stations |
|
1. | The Commission announces that it has received applications for broadcasting licences to provide commercial radio services to Iroquois Falls and Cochrane, Ontario. The Commission is concerned that these markets may not have the capacity to support the addition of new radio stations at this time. |
2. | Consistent with Broadcasting Public Notice 2006-159,1 the Commission hereby calls for comments from all interested parties concerning the capacity of these markets to support the licensing of new radio stations. |
3. | The Commission will issue a call for applications to serve the market(s) in question if, following an analysis of the comments received in response to this public notice, it determines that either or both of the markets in question can support the licensing of a new radio station. If the Commission determines that the market(s) do not have the capacity to support new radio stations, it will return the application(s) and issue a public notice that sets out and explains its conclusions. |
4. | The Commission will accept comments that it receives on or before 5 January 2009. |
