Telecom Order CRTC 2008-220

  Ottawa, 11 August 2008

Shaw Telecom Inc.

Reference: Tariff Notices 10 and 10A

CLEC rates for interconnection

The Commission received an application by Shaw Telecom Inc. (Shaw), dated 29 July 2008, for approval of revisions to its General Tariff for competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) interconnection services. The company stated that the proposed tariff revisions had been prepared in accordance with the CLEC Model Tariff Version 30.

In a Commission staff letter dated 29 July 2008, all CLECs were requested to file proposed tariffs to reflect the incumbent local exchange carriers' (ILECs) interconnection rates or to file proposed rates with cost justification for any departures from the ILECs' interconnection rates.

The Commission has reviewed the company's proposal and is satisfied that it follows the CLEC Model Tariff Version 30 and that the effective date is in accordance with the date indicated in the 29 July 2008 letter.

Accordingly, the Commission approves on an interim basis Shaw's application, with an effective date of 1 June 2008, as per Price cap framework for large incumbent local exchange carriers, Telecom Decision CRTC 2007-27, 30 April 2007.
