Review of English- and French-language broadcasting services in English and French linguistic minority communities in Canada

  Further to the publication of Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing 2008-12, dated 16 October 2008, relating to a public hearing that will be held commencing on 13 January 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Conference Centre, Phase IV, 140 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec, the Commission announces the following:
  Additional documents placed on the public record of the proceeding
1. In paragraphs 22 and 23 of Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing 2008-12, the Commission stated that it had asked the external consulting firm Brynaert et associés to prepare a study on the availability of radio, television, cable and high-speed Internet services in Canada's English and French linguistic minority communities. The Commission also stated that the study will be placed on the public record for this proceeding.
2. The Commission has now received the study prepared by Brynaert et associés and has placed it on the public record of the proceeding. Interested parties are invited to consult the study, entitled Sounds and Images, when formulating their observations.
3. The Commission reminds parties that this study reflects the views of the consultants and not those of the Commission and that it determines neither the agenda nor the outcome of the proceeding.
 

Procedure

4. The Commission notes that the deadline for filing comments and proposals for this proceeding is 20 November 2008. For further details regarding this proceeding, interested parties may refer to Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing 2008-12.
