Re: Part VII application by Rogers Communications Inc. requesting that the Commission direct that unsolicited text messages as well as unsolicited Multi-Media Messaging Services are captured under the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and the National Do Not Call List Rules
On 10 December 2008, Rogers Communications Inc. (Rogers) filed an application, pursuant to Part VII of the CRTC Telecommunications Rules of Procedures, requesting that the Commission direct that unsolicited text messages (i.e. Short Message Service or SMS), as well as unsolicited Multi-Media Messaging Services – MMS (e.g. video and picture), are captured under the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and the National Do Not Call List Rules.
Commission staff considers that the standard Part VII process is not well suited to deal with the issues raised by the application. Accordingly, parties are requested not to file their comments until further process is established.
