RE: Saskatchewan Telecommunications Tariff Notice 189
On 27 October 2008, the Commission received Tariff Notice 189 from Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel). In its application, SaskTel requested that its proposed CDN Central Office Link service rates in its Competitor Access Tariff (CRTC 21414), Competitor Digital Network ( CDN ) Services, Item 650.28, be given interim approval on 10 November 2008, but with an effective date of 25 November 2008. SaskTel submitted that this would allow it to make the necessary administrative changes to apply the proposed revised rates.
This application was submitted in response to a Commission letter dated 26 August 2008 requesting that SaskTel and other incumbent local exchange carriers submit revised economic studies, in support of proposed CDN Central Office Link Service rates, that reflect the costing methodology changes set out in Review of certain Phase II co sting issues , Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-14, 21 February 2008, as amended by Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-14-1, 11 April 2008. The companies were also requested to submit proposed tariff pages to reflect the revised rates.
In the letter noted above the Commission also set out a process for comment and reply comment, which will conclude 1 st December 2008.
Consequently, the Commission will not be able to render a decision within 45 business days of the date of receipt of these applications. The Commission intends to dispose of these applications within the first quarter of 2009.
Yours sincerely,
