Dear Mr. Connolly:

RE:   Tariff Notice 304

On 23 April 2008, the Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Company (TCC), under cover of Tariff Notice 304, in which the company proposed revisions to its General Tariff, Item 129 - Directory Listings, in order to:

  1. allow the company to call customers subscribing to its Non-Published Telephone Number service or its Non-Listed Telephone Number service for the purposes of promoting products, services or discount plans, without the customer's prior consent; and
  2. to reflect exceptions to random-dialed calls for the purpose of initiating a telemarketing telecommunication, including to a non-published or a non-listed telecommunications number.

The Commission notes that the record of this application closed with TCC's reply comments, dated 20 May 2008.   The Commission is in the process of completing its analysis of the application.   Consequently, the Commission will be unable to render its decision within 45 business days of receipt of the application.   The Commission expects to render its decision prior to the end of July 2008.

Yours sincerely,
