Re:   Wireless Number Portability  

On 21 May 2008, the Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Company (TCC) requesting that it be allowed to recover that portion of the costs incurred by the company to modify the wireline network to enable wireless number portability (WNP).                                                                   

TCC is requested to provide responses to the interrogatories set out in the Attachment by 30 June 2008.

Attachment

1)   With reference to TCC's 21 May 2008 application, provide a description of the components and the associated PWAC for each of the following:

(1)    Item 6.4.1, Expenses Causal to Service- Other: Project development and management costs

(2)    Item 6.4.2, Capital Causal to the Service - Software

(3)    Item 6.4.3, Capital Causal to Demand - Switching

(4)    Item 6.4.3, Capital Causal to Demand - Land Building and Other: LNP data base capacity upgrades.

(5)    Identify which of TCC's operating territory the WNP costs proposed in Attachment 1 apply to.

2)   With reference to Attachment 2 of TCC's 21 May 2008 application:

a)   Explain with supporting rationale, if and how the NAS distribution provided in the attachment will be used to recover the wireline portion of the costs to implement WNP.

b)   Explain whether the NAS associated with the Megalink service is included in the attachment. If yes, identify the category in which it is included and explain, with supporting rationale, if and how number porting is expected to apply for this service as a result of WNP; and if not, confirm that the Megalink NAS should not be part of the NAS distribution to recover WNP costs.

c)   Explain with supporting rationale, if and how number porting is expected to apply to Centrex, and Payphone services as a result of WNP.   If not, confirm that the Centrex and Payphone services NAS should not be part of the NAS distribution to recover WNP costs.

d)   Comment on the revisions to TCC's 21 May 2008 application, in light of the company's response to parts a) to c) above.
