LetterOttawa, 17 April 2008 File No.: 8663-T66-200804288 BY E- MAIL To: Distribution List (attached) Re: Part VII application by TELUS Communications Company, for relief from requirements for expansion of local calling areas as set out in Framework for the expansion of local calling areas, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-56, 12 September 2002 The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Company, dated 19 March 2008, requesting that the Commission make a determination that the expanded local calling area regulatory framework established in Framework for the expansion of local calling areas, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-56, 12 September 2002 (Decision 2002-56), does not apply in communities of interest that include at least one local exchange that has been forborne from regulation of local exchange services. The Commission is considering procedural alternatives with respect to the issues raised by the above-noted application. Until the Commission makes a determination on the appropriate procedure to follow, parties are requested to refrain from submitting comments on this application or from filing new applications for relief from requirements for expansion of local calling areas, as set out in Decision 2002-56.
