CBRT Calgary - New transmitter in Etzikom |

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CBRT Calgary in order to add the transmitter CBCA-TV-1 Etzikom. The Commission did not receive any interventions with respect to this application. |

The Commission notes that the transmitter to be added to the CBRT licence, CBCA-TV-1 Etzikom, is currently operated by the CBC as a radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU) that rebroadcasts the programming of CHAT-TV Medicine Hat. In Broadcasting Decision 2008-49, the Commission approved the disaffiliation of CHAT-TV from the CBC English-language network. Approval of this application will ensure that residents of the Etzikom area will continue to receive CBC programming from CBRT Calgary. |

The CBC has requested that should this application be approved, the licence for the above-noted RDU be revoked. Accordingly, pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(2) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission revokes the broadcasting licence issued to the CBC with respect to CBCA-TV-1 Etzikom. |
