Le Reseau des Combats - Category 2 specialty service |
|
The Commission approves an application for a broadcasting licence to operate a new Category 2 specialty programming undertaking. |
1. |
The Fight Network Inc. filed an application for a broadcasting licence to operate Le Reseau des Combats, a national French-language Category 2 specialty service. The service would be devoted to combat sports such as boxing, wrestling and martial arts and would broadcast programming consisting of live or archived fights, news, interviews and analysis, movies and variety shows. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application. |
2. |
The applicant proposed to limit the programming it may draw from category 7 Drama and comedy to 20% of the broadcast year. The applicant also stated that it was prepared to caption 100% of its programming. |
3. |
The Commission is satisfied that the application is in conformity with all applicable terms and conditions announced in Public Notice 2000-171-1. Accordingly, the Commission approves the application by The Fight Network Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate the national French-language Category 2 specialty programming undertaking known as Le Reseau des Combats. The terms and conditions of licence are set out in the appendix to this decision. |
