CFBW-FM Hanover - Technical change |
1. |
The Commission approves the application by Bluewater Community Radio to change the authorized contours of the English-language Type B community radio programming undertaking CFBW-FM Hanover by increasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain (EHAAT) from 39.8 to 88.5 metres and by relocating its transmitter 8 km to the west of Hanover. The implementation of this technical change is subject to the notification by the Department of Industry (the Department) discussed in paragraph 4 below. |
2. |
The licensee noted that the coverage contours would be displaced closer to Walkerton as a result of the transmitter site relocation. The licensee argued, however, that the increase in EHAAT would minimize the impact on the service area for Hanover and should help maintain a satisfactory signal. The licensee also argued that the overall effect would be to provide more consistent and uniform coverage to the existing Hanover-Walkerton listening area. |
3. |
The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application. |
|
Condition prior to the implementation of the new technical parameters |
4. |
The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued. Therefore, in the absence of the notification by the Department, the licensee will not be able to implement the new technical parameters approved in this decision. |
