Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2008-242

  Ottawa, 29 August 2008
  Melvin Augustine
Big Cove, New Brunswick

Licence renewal

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the Type B Native radio programming undertaking CFTI-FM Big Cove from 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2009, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.

The Commission notes the licensee's uncooperative behaviour in relation to its lack of response for additional information following the receipt of its application to renew the broadcasting licence for this undertaking. The Commission also notes that the licensee has failed to file annual returns over the course of the licence term.

The above constitute infractions under sections 9(2) and 9(4) of the Radio Regulations, 1986. The Commission therefore considers it appropriate to renew the licence for CFTI-FM for a period of one year. Should this situation occur again, the licensee may be expected to show cause as to why the licence for this radio programming undertaking should not be suspended or revoked.
