CHRC Québec - Acquisition of assets - Addition of a condition of licence

1.

In CHRC Québec - Acquisition of assets, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2008-128 , 26 June 2008 (Broadcasting Decision 2008-128 ), the Commission conditionally approved the application by 9183-9084 Québec inc. to acquire the assets of the French-language radio programming undertaking CHRC Québec and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of the undertaking.

2.

In a letter dated 11 August 2008, the Commission confirmed to the licensee that it had met all the conditions of approval set out in Broadcasting Decision 2008-128 , including that regarding local programming. In the letter, the Commission reminded the licensee that, as set out in Broadcasting Decision 2008-128 , the Commission could decide to impose 9183-9084 Québec inc.'s new local programming proposal as a condition of licence.

3.

Given the significance of local news coverage, the Commission considers it appropriate to impose 9183-9084 Québec inc.'s new local programming proposal as a condition of licence. Accordingly, CHRC Québec's licence is also subject to the following condition of licence:

In each broadcast week, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, 115 minutes of News (subcategory 11) programming.

For the purpose of this condition, "broadcast week" shall have the same meaning as that set out in Radio Regulations, 1986.

This decision is to be appended to the licence. It is available in alternative format upon request, and may also be examined in PDF format or HTML at the following Internet site: http://www.crtc.gc.ca.
