Application No. 2007-0965-2
Application by CanWest MediaWorks Inc. (CanWest) relating to the licence of the television programming undertaking CHCA-TV Red Deer, Alberta.
CanWest proposes to operate the transmitter CHCA-TV-2 Edmonton, Alberta on a temporary basis with an average effective radiated power of 7,500 watts (maximum effective radiated power of 12,000 watts/effective antenna height 22.5 metres) at an alternate transmitter location.
This transmitter was initially approved in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-168, 8 June 2007, (Decision 2007-168) CHCA-TV Red Deer - New Transmitters in Calgary and Edmonton, wherein the Commission approved the application by CanWest to operate a TV transmitter in Edmonton on channel 17C with an effective radiated power of 92,000 watts.
CanWest advises that due to recent uncertainty caused by announced and/or approved ownership transactions, access to the tower originally approved has proven to be problematic. It states that in the meanwhile, it will continue to negotiate diligently and that the request for the temporary operation is for a period not to exceed one year from the date of Decision 2007-168, approving the new transmitter.

Application Nos. 2007-0968-6 and 2007-0967-8
Applications by CanWest MediaWorks Inc. (CanWest) relating to the licence of the television programming undertaking CHCA-TV Red Deer, Alberta.
CanWest proposes:
a) the use of channel 44C with an effective radiated power of 79,000 watts (non-directional antenna/effective antenna height of 206 metres) for the operation of the TV transmitter CHCA-TV-1 Calgary, Alberta approved in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-168, 8 June 2007, (Decision 2007-168).
The present application is filed in response to Decision 2007-168, CHCA-TV Red Deer - New Transmitters in Calgary and Edmonton, wherein the Commission approved in part an application by CanWest to operate a TV transmitter in Calgary, whereby CanWest must submit, within three months from the date of the decision, an amendment to its Calgary application proposing the use of technical parameters that are acceptable to both the Commission and the Department of Industry.
b) to operate the transmitter CHCA-TV-1 Calgary, Alberta on a temporary basis with an average effective radiated power of 6,300 watts (maximum effective radiated power of 10,000 watts/effective antenna height 51 metres) at an alternate transmitter location.
CanWest advises that due to recent uncertainty caused by announced and/or approved ownership transactions, access to the tower of proposal (a) has proven to be problematic. It states that in the meanwhile, it will continue to negotiate diligently and that the request for the temporary operation is for a period not to exceed one year from the date of the Decision 2007-168, approving the new transmitter.
