Mr. David Palmer Dear Mr. Palmer: Re: Annual Filing of Revised 9-1-1 Service Rates Pursuant to Telecom Decision CRTC 99-17 This letter constitutes the Commission's determination with respect to the request by Bell Canada and Bell Aliant Regional Communcations, Limited Partnership (collectively, Bell Canada et al.), to maintain the rates for their respective General Tariff item 1400, 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service (PERS) and Access Services Tariff Item 105, Local Network Interconnection and Component Unbundling. By letter dated 30 November 2007 , Bell Canada et al. indicated that it was submitting rate calculations, as directed by the Commission in 9-1-1 Service - Rates for Wireless Service Providers, Centrex Customers and MultiLine Customers/Manual Access to the Automatic Location Identification Database , Telecom Decision CRTC 99-17, 29 October 1999 (Decision 99-17), and amended in Rates Modified for Province-Wide 9-1-1 Service , Telecom Order CRTC 2000-630, 6 July 2000 (Order 2000-630). Bell Canada et al. noted that in Order 2000-630 the Commission directed the Companies to recalculate the province-wide 9-1-1 rates on an annual basis and to file the proposed recalculated rates by 1 December each year. Bell Canada et al. noted that the recalculation of the 9-1-1 rates for the year 2007 resulted in no change to the current rates of $0.19 per access line or Centrex working telephone number (WTN) and $0.095 per WTN for the Wireless Service Providers (WSPs). Bell Canada et al. requested approval by 14 December 2007 . In Decision 99-17, the Commission determined that Bell Canada (now Bell Canada and Bell Aliant), among other companies, should charge WSPs and Centrex customers per working telephone number, instead of per access line, and that the rate paid by WSPs should be discounted by 50 percent. The Commission further directed the companies to recalculate their 9-1-1 rates on an annual basis using the service revenues for the month of September, in accordance with a formula set out in the decision, and to file each year, by 1 st December, proposed revised 9-1-1 service rates. In Order 2000-630, the formula was amended. The Commission has reviewed Bell Canada et al. 's calculation and notes that the method of calculation is consistent with Decision 99-17 and Order 2000-630. The Commission also agrees with the results of Bell Canada et al. 's calculations. Accordingly, the Commission approves Bell Canada et al. 's request to maintain their 9-1-1 Service rates at the current levels. Sincerely, Original signed by John Keogh for
