Subject:   Review of certain Phase II costing issues, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2007-4, 30 March 2007 - Request for an extension of time to submit reply comments

By letter dated 12 September 2007, Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel) requested that the Commission extend the date for the submission of reply comments from 12 October 2007 to 2 November 2007 in the proceeding initiated by Review of certain Phase II costing issues, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2007-4, 30 March 2007 (Public Notice 2007-4).

In support of its request for an extension, SaskTel submitted that there is an overlap in dates between the oral hearing for Review of regulatory framework for wholesale services and definition of essential service , Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-14-3, 16 March 2007, as amended by Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-14-4, 20 March 2007 and the date for the submission of reply comments set out in Public Notice 2007-4.   Further, SaskTel submitted that the company's scarce regulatory costing resources are involved in both proceedings as there is also an overlap of certain topic areas being discussed in both proceedings.

By letters dated 13 September 2007 and 18 September 2007, TELUS Communications Company, and Bell Aliant Communications, Limited Partnership and Bell Canada respectively, supported SaskTel's request.

In the circumstances, the requested extension is considered reasonable. Accordingly, the deadline set out in paragraph 25 of the Public Notice 2007-4 is revised from 12 October 2007 to 2 November 2007 .
