Dear Sir or Madam:
At paragraph 13 of Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-15 - Use of deferral account funds to expand broadband services to certain rural and remote communities , Telecom Decision CRTC 2007-50, 6 July 2007 (Decision 2007-50) [1] , the Commission directed Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership (Bell Aliant), Bell Canada, MTS Allstream Inc., and TELUS Communications Company to file, by 4 September 2007, information related to the communities to which they intend to expand broadband networks in 2007 and 2008 pursuant to the determinations in Decision 2007-50.
In a letter dated 30 August 2007 , Bell Aliant and Bell Canada (the companies) requested an extension to 5 October 2007 to file the information required by the Commission. The companies noted that their request was necessitated by the absence of key resources, critical to the development of their submission.
Commission staff notes that the extension requested by the companies only pertains to the filing of follow-up broadband roll-out information pursuant to Decision 2007-50, and it would not affect the timeline for the Commission's considerations of the issues remaining as part of the proceeding initiated by Review of proposals to dispose of the funds accumulated in the deferral accounts , Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-15, 30 November 2006.
In light of the above, the companies' request for an extension to 5 October 2007 to file broadband roll-out information pursuant to Decision 2007-50 is acceptable.
