Mr. John Maksimow Dear Mr. Maksimow: Re: MTS Allstream Tariff Notice 610 On 19 December 2006, the Commission received an application by MTS Allstream, under cover of Tariff Notice 610 (TN 610), requesting the Commission's approval to increase the rate charged for a local payphone call originating at public and semi-public telephones. In a letter dated 22 December 2006, the Company was advised that its application would not be disposed of within 10 business days, but the Commission stated that it expected to render its dec ision within 45 business days of the date of receipt of the tariff notice. The Commission notes that the issue of increases to public telephone rates was raised and will be dealt with in the context of Review of price cap framework , Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-5, 9 May 2006 (Public Notice 2006-5). A decision on that Public Notice is expected to be issued by 30 April 2007. Accordingly, the Commission will be unable to dispose of this tariff application within 45 business days. The Commission expects to issue a decision on this application 60 days from the date a decision is issued in the proceeding initiated by Public Notice 2006-5. Yours sincerely, 'Original signed by S. Bédard'
