File Nos.: 8661-C12-200608672 BY E-MAIL To: Interested parties to PN 2006-10 (Attached Distribution list) Re: Public Notice 2006-10 - Continued need for the regulatory constraints applicable to toll and toll-free services Pursuant to the Telecommunications Act (the Act), the Governor in Council issued a direction, Order Issuing a Direction to the CRTC on Implementing the Canadian Telecommunications Policy Objectives (the Policy Direction) , to the Commission. The Policy Direction came into effect on 14 December 2006 . The Policy Direction can be found at: http://canadagazetteducanada.gc.ca/partII/2006/20061227/html/sor355-e.html The Policy Direction requires that the CRTC rely on market forces to the maximum extent feasible and regulate, where there is still a need to do so, in a manner that interferes with market forces to the minimum extent necessary to meet the policy objectives of the Act. The Policy Direction will apply to the proceeding initiated by Continued need for the regulatory constraints applicable to toll and toll-free services, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2006-10, 7 July 2006 . Accordingly, parties may want to address the Policy Direction in the arguments and reply arguments to be filed on 16 February 2007 and 23 February 2007 , respectively.
