CJON-TV St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador - Licence amendment

1. The Commission approves the application by Newfoundland Broadcasting Company Limited (NBCL) to amend the broadcasting licence of its television programming undertaking CJON-TV St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, by deleting the transmitters CJSG-TV Glenwood, CJST-TV St. Alban's, and CJSC-TV Swift Current, Newfoundland and Labrador.
2. The licensee has informed the Commission that the above-noted low-power transmitters are no longer necessary since there are other means of receiving its signal in these areas, such as direct-to-home satellite distribution undertaking or cable distribution undertaking services. NBCL has therefore discontinued the over-the-air operations of these transmitters as of 31 December 2006.
3. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
