CBON-FM Sudbury - Transmitter at Marathon

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBON-FM Sudbury in order to operate an FM transmitter at Marathon to rebroadcast the programming of its national French-language network service La Première Chaîne.

2.

The transmitter will operate at 102.3 MHz (channel 272B) with an average effective radiated power of 765 watts.

3.

The CBC indicated that the FM transmitter at Marathon used to rebroadcast the programming of CBON-FM was previously licensed as a radiocommunication distribution undertaking and that the licensee had ceased the operation of this undertaking. The CBC agreed to maintain the service in Marathon and now wishes to have the transmitter added to the licence for CBON-FM.

4.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
