Application No. 2006-1308-5
Application by Pineridge Broadcasting Inc. (Pineridge) to amend the licence of the radio programming undertaking CHUC-FM Cobourg, Ontario.
Pineridge proposes to change its condition of licence in order to extend the period of time, to simulcast the programming of CHUC-FM Cobourg on the (AM) station CHUC-FM following the commencement of operation of the new FM station from 11 November 2006 until 11 November 2007. The new FM station was approved in CHUC Cobourg - Conversion to FM band, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-205, 19 May 2005 (Decision 2005-205).
In Decision 2005-205, the Commission approved by condition of licence, a simulcast period of three months following commencement of operation of the new FM station. Pineridge confirmed that it commenced the operation of CHUC-FM on 11 August 2006.
Pineridge has stated that its station CHUC-FM has generated intermodulation products that fall in the NAV/COM band, and despite the fact that it has taken several measures to correct the problem, the situation still exists. Consequently, the licensee has requested an additional simulcast period while resolving the situation.
Also, in Decision 2005-205, the Commission indicated that the licensee had requested the revocation of the licence for CHUC at the end of the simulcast period and that the revocation would be effective three months after the commencement of operation of the FM station.
Subject to the approval of the above-noted application by the Commission, the revocation of CHUC licence will be effective at the end of the simulcast period.
