Dear Mr. Connolly :

Re:    TCI Tariff Update #130

On 20 October 2006 , the Commission received a letter from TELUS Communications Company (TCC) in which it requested the withdrawal of its General Tariff update #130 which reflected the introduction of the optional Directory Assistance (DA) Block feature in Alberta .

In its letter, TCC noted that TCI Tariff Notice 199 which proposed the introduction of the DA Block feature in Alberta was granted final approval in Telecom Order CRTC 2006-51, 14 March 2006 , effective 4 December 2006 .   TCC noted that the effective date for the introduction of the feature in Alberta would be delayed and that the company is targeting the second quarter of 2007 for the implementation of the system changes that support the feature.   TCC also noted that it was unable to set a firm effective date for the introduction of the feature in Alberta .

In the circumstances, Commission staff is of the view that it would be appropriate for TCC to submit a tariff application to withdraw the DA Block feature in Alberta .   The company may file a new application to introduce this feature when it can set a firm effective date.

Yours sincerely,
