Dear Ms. Courtemanche:

Re.: Tariff Notice 414 - Expansion of local calling area

Further to your letter of 2 February 2006, in which you proposed to send by mail under one cover the Notices to Subscribers (Pentecôte and Sept-Îles) and the consultation document to your Pentecôte customers, CRTC staff agrees that a single mailing is appropriate.

CRTC staff, however, asks TELUS Quebec to amend the second sentence of the first paragraph in each of these three documents to read as follows:

In this decision, the Commission concluded, among other things, that expanded LCA subscribers would cover the costs associated with the loss of long-distance revenue by means of a temporary monthly supplement collected by incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) and competing local exchange carriers (CLECs).

In addition, the following fax number should be supplied to subscribers in the notices: (819) 994-0218. The number in the copy supplied by TELUS Quebec is out of date.

Lastly, with respect to the consultation document only, CRTC staff suggests that the formatting be adjusted to ensure that the question put to subscribers and the table in which subscribers are being asked to affix their vote are on the same page.

Taking into account the mailing of documents to subscribers and the subsequent period for comments, the Commission now feels that it will be able to render its decision during the month of June 2006.

Yours sincerely,
