CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee - Consensus items

1.

The Canadian Steering Committee on Numbering (CSCN) of the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) submitted a consensus report to the CISC Steering Committee (SC).

On 28 July 2006 the SC approved the following report:
  - CSCN - CNA administration of MIN Block Identifiers (MBI) in Canada, 12 July 2006 (CNRE060A). Consensus was reached on the following items:
 
  • Canadian mobile identification number (MIN) block identifier assignment guidelines;
 
  • that the Canadian Numbering Administration Consortium (CNAC) be authorized to negotiate with the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Canada as the Canadian Numbering Administrator to perform the additional Canadian MBI administration (CMA) function, compensating SAIC Canada according to the terms of its agreement with the CNAC;
 
  • that the CNAC is to recover the CMA costs from the Canadian Telecommunications industry in accordance with the CNAC funding mechanism previously approved by the Commission; and
 
  • that the CNAC be authorized to implement the grandfathering process described in the Canadian MBI assignment guidelines, should the above recommendations not be approved in sufficient time to facilitate the implementation of wireless number portability in Canada.

The consensus report was referred to the Commission for consideration. The report is available through the Commission's website.

The Commission has reviewed and approves the above-noted consensus report.
