26 July 2006

CJSI-FM Calgary - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by Touch Canada Broadcasting Inc. to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CJSI-FM Calgary, by increasing the effective radiated power from 47,000 watts to 100,000 watts.
2. The licensee indicated that the proposed change would increase the quality of CJSI-FM's signal in the rural areas outside of Calgary, and increase the penetration of the signal within the downtown core.
3. The Commission received one intervention in support of this application.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
