Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-281

  Ottawa, 10 July 2006
  Telephone City Broadcast Limited
Brantford, Ontario
  Application 2006-0144-4
Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2006-54
26 April 2006

CKPC Brantford - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by Telephone City Broadcast Limited to change the authorized contours of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CKPC Brantford, by increasing the power of the transmitter from 10,000 watts to 25,000 watts, day-time and night-time.1
2. The licensee indicated that this change will increase the station's coverage and improve service both during the day and the night, in all directions.
3. The Commission received interventions in support of this application.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.

This decision is to be appended to the licence. It is available in alternative format upon request, and may also be examined in PDF format or in HTML at the following Internet site: www.crtc.gc.ca
  Footnote:
1 The Commission notes that a similar power increase was approved in Decision CRTC 90-811, 28 August 1990 (Decision 90-811), but never implemented. A new application was required because the resulting coverage will be slightly different than that entailed by Decision 90-811.
