CIVR-FM Yellowknife - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the French-language, Type A community FM radio programming undertaking CIVR-FM Yellowknife, from 1 September 2006 to 31 August 2013.

2.

The Commission received an intervention in support of this application.

3.

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for community radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 2000-157, 16 November 2000, and to the following conditions:

  • The licensee shall devote, in each broadcast week, at least 20% of the musical selections broadcast to musical selections from content subcategories other than subcategory 21 (Pop, rock and dance).

  • The licensee shall devote, in each broadcast week, at least 5% of the musical selections broadcast to musical selections from content category 3 (Special interest music).

  • The licensee shall adhere to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) Broadcast code for advertising to children and to the CAB's Sex-role portrayal code for television and radio programming, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.

4.

The Commission considers that community radio stations should be particularly sensitive to employment equity issues in order to reflect fully the communities they serve. It encourages the licensee to consider these issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
