Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-195

  Ottawa, 23 May 2006

Restigouche (Listuguj), Quebec
  Application 2005-1334-2
Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2006-33
16 March 2006

CFIC-FM Restigouche (Listuguj) - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by the Micmac Historical Cultural Art Society to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CFIC-FM Restigouche (Listuguj), by increasing the effective radiated power (ERP) from 50 watts to an average ERP of 425 watts.
2. The licensee stated that it wishes to improve the quality of the station's signal.
3. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
4. The Commission notes that the station's authorized contours will be increased significantly and that the power increase will result in a change in CFIC-FM's status from that of a low-power, unprotected service to that of a regular, Class A service.
5. The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
6. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
