Letter

Ottawa, 18 July 2005

Our File: 8698-C12-200506719

To: Parties to ITS Canada Application for access code 5-1-1 , Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2005-5, 9 June 2005 as amended (PN 2005-5)

Dear Sir/Madam:

Re:  PN 2005-5, Amended procedures

In a letter to the CRTC, dated 7 July 2005, Aliant Telecom Inc., Bell Canada and Saskatchewan Telecommunications (the Companies) requested modification to the procedure established in PN 2005-5 to permit interrogatories to be addressed among the interested parties, before reply comments are submitted.

The Companies stated that they were unclear as to the specific services the Applicant was proposing for use with 511and as a result; there is uncertainty as to how a telecommunications service provider might most effectively provision services and facilities to support those services.   The Companies proposed revisions to the schedule to allow interrogatories to be addressed amongst the parities.

Staff agrees that the process should be amended to permit interrogatories.   The schedule for the balance of the proceeding is as follows:

•  The Commission and parties may address interrogatories to any party filing written comments by 5 August 2005 .

•  Responses to those interrogatories are filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 19 August 2005 .

•  Requests by parties for further responses to their interrogatories, specifying in each case why a further response is both relevant and necessary and request for public disclosure of information for which confidentiality has been claimed, setting out in each case the reasons for disclosure, must be filed with the Commission and served on all relevant parties by 29 August 2005.

•  Written responses to requests for further responses to interrogatories and for public disclosure must be filed with the Commission and served on the party making the request by  5 September 2005 .

•  A determination with respect to requests for further information and public disclosure will be issued as soon as possible. Any information to be provided pursuant to that determination will be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 19 September 2005 .

•  All parties may file comments with the Commission by 29 September 2005 , serving a copy on all other parties.

•  All parties may file reply comments with the Commission by 10 October 2005 serving a copy on all other parties.

Sincerely,
