Elana Shapochnikov
Fax: 973-438-3100 Re:Follow-up to Decision 2003-53 - Conditions of service for wireless competitive local exchange carriers and for emergency services offered by wireless service providers Dear Ms. Shapochnikov: This is in response to the application Net2Phone filed with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (the Commission) on 20 June 2005 requesting an extension of the 90 day deadline within which to implement the Commission's directives in paragraphs 68 and 69 of Emergency service obligations for local VoIP service providers , Telecom Decision CRTC 2005-21 (Decision 2005-21). Commission staff notes that although the Commission is cognizant of the technical and operational challenges associated with the provision of 9-1-1/E9-1-1, the Commission considers that, to protect the public interest, ensuring access to reliable 9-1-1 service/E9-1-1 service is of the utmost importance. Having considered the arguments presented by Net2Phone in support of its extension request and having granted a 45 day extension to other service providers that have requested an extension within the prescribed 30 day period, Commission staff is granting Net2Phone a 45 day extension to 17 August 2005 for the implementation of the Commission's directives set out in paragraphs 68 and 69 of Decision 2005-21. Yours truly,
