Ottawa, 2 February 2005

To: Parties to Review and Disposition of deferral accounts for the second price cap review period , Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2004-1, 24 March 2004, as amended (Public Notice 2004-1)

Dear Sir/Madam:

Re: Public Notice 2004-1 amended process

In a letter dated 22 October 2004, Commission staff reinstated Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant) to the proceeding initiated in Public Notice 2004-1. In that letter, Commission staff required Aliant to file proposals regarding the treatment of its deferral account by 28 January 2005. Parties were also informed that the original deadline for parties to file reply comments, 29 October 2004, would be suspended until an amended process would be issued in a follow-up letter.

In light of the receipt of Aliant's 28 January 2005 submission, Commission staff is issuing a revised process for the remainder of the Public Notice 2004-1 proceeding.

The Commission and parties may address interrogatories to Aliant. Any such interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on Aliant by 11 March 2005.   The Commission may also address supplemental interrogatories to parties on 11 March 2005

Responses to those interrogatories are to be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 8 April 2005.

Requests by parties for further responses to their interrogatories, specifying in each case why a further response is both relevant and necessary, and requests for public disclosure of information for which confidentiality has been claimed, setting out in each case the reasons for disclosure, must be filed with the Commission and served on the party or parties in question, by 22 April 2005.

Written responses to requests for further responses to interrogatories and for public disclosure must be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 29 April 2005.

A determination with respect to requests for further information and for public disclosure will be issued as soon as possible. Any information to be provided pursuant to that determination must be filed with the Commission and served on all parties, by 27 May 2005.

All parties may file comments with the Commission on any matters within the scope of this proceeding, serving copies on all other parties by 10 June 2005 . Parties that submitted comments on 15 October 2004 may submit revised comments if they wish to do so, clearly specifying revisions to comments submitted on 15 October 2004.

All parties may file reply comments with the Commission on any matters within the scope of this proceeding by 27June 2005.

Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely sent, by that date.

Yours sincerely,
