Hustler TV and X Channel - Licence amendments

1.

The Commission approves the application by Ten Broadcasting Inc., to amend the broadcasting licences for the national Category 2 specialty programming undertakings known as Hustler TV and X Channel (formerly known as TEN - Channel 1 and TEN - Channel 2, respectively) by changing the conditions of licence setting out the nature of service for each undertaking.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
 

Hustler TV

In Ten - Channel 1, Decision CRTC 2000-702, 14 December 2000, the Commission imposed the following conditions of licence defining the nature of service that Hustler TV may provide:
 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service devoted to adult entertainment programming, including adult entertainment films, talk shows, phone-in shows and other programming on the theme of sexuality. This will range from entertainment material to educational and analytical material on sexuality and health.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule 1 to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
2a, 5b, 7c, 7d, 7e, 7g, 11, 12 and 14.

Conditions of licence a) and b) are replaced with the following:
 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service devoted to adult entertainment programming, including adult entertainment films and other programming on the theme of sexuality. This will range from entertainment material to educational and analytical material on sexuality and health.

 

b) The programming shall be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule 1 to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990, as amended from time to time:

 

2(a) Analysis and interpretation
7(c) Specials, mini-series or made-for-TV feature films
7(d) Theatrical feature films aired on TV
7(e) Animated television programs and films
7(g) Other drama
11 General entertainment and human interest
12 Interstitials
14 Infomercials, promotional and corporate videos

 

X Channel

5.

In Ten - Channel 2, Decision CRTC 2000-701, 14 December 2000, the Commission imposed the following conditions of licence defining the nature of service that X Channel may provide:
 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service devoted to adult entertainment programming, including adult entertainment films, talk shows, phone-in shows and other programming on the theme of sexuality. This will range from entertainment material to educational and analytical material on sexuality and health. TEN - Channel 2 will be suitable for communities with more traditional views regarding the suitability of adult content.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule 1 to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
2a, 5b, 7c, 7d, 7e, 7g, 11, 12 and 14.

6.

Conditions of licence a) and b) are replaced with the following:
 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service devoted to adult entertainment programming, including adult entertainment films and other programming on the theme of sexuality. This will range from entertainment material to educational and analytical material on sexuality and health.

 

b) The programming shall be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule 1 to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990, as amended from time to time:
