Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-434
Ottawa, 26 August 2005
La radio campus communautaire francophone de Shawinigan inc. Shawinigan, Quebec
Administrative renewal
1.
The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the French-language developmental campus radio station CFUT-FM Shawinigan, from 21 September 2005 to 31 March 2006, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.
2.
Licensees of developmental campus radio stations receive licences for a term of three years only. Licensees interested in continuing the operation of their station after this term are expected to file an application with the Commission for a regular campus radio licence nine months before their licence expires. This licensee wishes to continue operating the Shawinigan station as a regular French-language FM Type B community radio programming undertaking, in view of the community's involvement in the project and the fact that CFUT-FM no longer fits the profile of a campus radio station. The licensee has filed an application for a broadcasting licence with this intent.
3.
The Commission heard this application at the Public Hearing in Gatineau on 15 August 2005. However, it will not be able to rule on the application before the licence of CFUT-FM Shawinigan expires.
4.
The Commission will issue a decision on the application for a licence to operate a French-language FM Type B community radio programming undertaking in Shawinigan at a later date.
