Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-334

  Ottawa, 20 July 2005
  Rock 95 Broadcasting (Barrie-Orillia) Ltd.
Barrie, Ontario
  Application 2005-0082-8
Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2005-40
29 April 2005

CKMB-FM Barrie - Technical changes

1. The Commission approves the application by Rock 95 Broadcasting (Barrie-Orillia) Ltd. (Rock 95) to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CKMB-FM Barrie, by increasing the average effective radiated power from 17,000 watts to 20,000 watts, by increasing the antenna height and by relocating the transmitter.
2. In its application, Rock 95 indicated that, as a result of these changes, it will not be necessary to implement the change of frequency approved in CKMB-FM Barrie - Technical changes, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-363, 20 August 2004. The applicant stated that the use of its existing frequency from a new site in Barrie will be a more efficient solution to its technical difficulties.
3. The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
