Use of frequency 101.9 MHz by the new low-power English-language FM tourist information service in Moncton

1.

The Commission approves the application by 3077457 Nova Scotia Limited, to operate its new low-power English-language FM tourist information service in Moncton at 101.9 MHz (channel 270LP) with an effective radiated power of 50 watts.

The applicant filed this application in response to the Commission's direction in Low-power tourist information service in Moncton, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-519, 26 November 2004 (Decision 2004-519). The applicant had originally proposed to operate its new station at 90.7 MHz (channel 214LP). In Decision 2004-519, the Commission stated that it would only issue a licence for this station once the applicant has submitted an application proposing the use of another FM frequency and technical parameters that would be acceptable to both the Commission and the Department of Industry (the Department).

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The Department has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
