CJCQ-FM North Battleford and its transmitter - Licence renewal
|

1.
|
The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the commercial radio programming undertaking CJCQ-FM North Battleford and the FM transmitter CJCQ-FM-1 Meadow Lake, from 1 September 2005 to 31 August 2012.
|

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
|
|

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for commercial radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 1999-137, 24 August 1999.

The Commission notes that the Meadow Lake transmitter authorized in CJCQ-FM North Battleford - New transmitter in Meadow Lake, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-443, 6 October 2004 (Decision 2004-443) is not yet in operation, and that the Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while the application with respect to the Meadow Lake transmitter is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the authority for the Meadow Lake transmitter will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.

The transmitter must be operational at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of Decision 2004-443, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 6 October 2006. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.

Because this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act and files reports concerning employment equity with theDepartment of Human Resources and Skills Development, its employment equity practices are not examined by the Commission.
