CJTN-FM Quinte West - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the commercial radio programming undertaking CJTN-FM Quinte West, from 1 September 2005 to 31 August 2012.

2.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

3.

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for commercial radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 1999-137, 24 August 1999 (Public Notice 1999-137), as well as to the following conditions of licence:

  • The licensee shall not broadcast separate commercial messages on its Quinte West station during periods when the same programs are broadcast simultaneously on the licensee's Belleville and Quinte West stations.

  • In addition to the amount required under condition of licence number 5 set out in Public Notice 1999-137, the licensee shall devote a minimum of $12,100 annually towards Canadian talent development, as follows:

  • $10,000 to be allocated to the Town of Trenton, Trenton Parks and Recreation and Festival Committees for free public concerts featuring local Canadian artists throughout the summer months, and

  • $2,100 to be allocated to a talent contest at the annual Trenton Summer Festival with the winning artist or artists to receive a local recording session, production of a CD and airing on one or more of the licensee's stations.

The Commission reminds the licensee that all direct cost expenditures related to Canadian talent development must comply with the criteria set out in An FM policy for the nineties, Public Notice CRTC 1990-111, 17 December 1990, which describes initiatives generally accepted by the Commission.

4.

In accordance with Implementation of an employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
