CFSF-FM Sturgeon Falls - Technical change
1.
The Commission approves the application by Joco Communications Inc. to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CFSF-FM Sturgeon Falls, by increasing the effective radiated power from 50 watts to 1,350 watts and by increasing the antenna height.
2.
The applicant stated that the proposed changes will allow it to serve all citizens in the Municipality of West Nipissing and outlying communities.
3.
The Commission notes that these changes will result in a significant increase of the coverage area. The Commission also notes that, as a result of the increase in power, CFSF-FM Sturgeon Falls' status will change from that of a low-power unprotected service to that of a regular class A FM station.
4.
The Commission received interventions in support of this application.
5.
The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
6.
The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
