Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2005-19
28 February 2005

Application for relief from section 25 of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations

1.

The Commission approves the application by Vidéotron ltée and Videotron (Regional) Ltd. (collectively referred to as Vidéotron) to be relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement, under section 25 of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations, that they not distribute the signal of CFTU-TV Montréal (Canal Savoir) on a restricted channel, so long as the quality of the signal does not deteriorate. If the Commission finds that the quality of the signal has deteriorated to the extent that reception problems are evident, the licensee must immediately take the necessary corrective measures to provide an adequate signal.

2.

The Commission received a comment from Mr. Mathieu Côté in connection with this application. Mr. Côté requested that the Commission ensure that the quality of the signal does not deteriorate.

3.

The applicants did not reply to Mr. Côté's intervention.
