Exchange of radio assets in Quebec between Astral Media Radio inc. and Corus Entertainment Inc. - Confirmation received

1.

In Exchange of radio assets in Quebec between Astral Media Radio inc. and Corus Entertainment Inc., Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-15, 21 January 2005 (Decision 2005-15), the Commission approved the applications by Astral Media Radio inc. (Astral) and 591991 B.C. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Corus Entertainment Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Corus), for authority to acquire several radio programming undertakings in Quebec as part of an exchange of assets, subject to the terms and conditions set out in that decision.

2.

Paragraph 121 of Decision 2005-15 reads as follows:

Corus and Astral shall each provide written confirmation, within 30 days of this decision, that they will complete the transaction in accordance with the terms and conditions set out herein. Failure to provide such confirmation within the required timeframe shall render this decision null and void.

3.

The confirmation required in Decision 2005-15 was filed by Corus on 4 February 2005 and by Astral on 8 February 2005. Accordingly, the Commission considers that the requirement attached to Decision 2005-15 has been fulfilled.

4.

The Commission also considers that the confirmation filed by Corus and Astral fulfill similar requirements noted at paragraph 29 of CHMP-FM Longueuil - Licence amendment, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-16, 21 January 2005, and at paragraph 10 of Acquisition of assets - Intracorporate reorganization, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-17, 21 January 2005.
