Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-70

  The Commission has received the following application. The deadline for submission of interventions/comments is 21 October 2004.

Application No. 2004-0661-2
  Application by Northwest Broadcasting Inc. (Northwest Broadcasting) requesting authority to transfer its effective control to H.F. Dougall Company, Limited (H.F. Dougall). The transaction will be effected through the transfer of all of its issued and outstanding shares to H.F. Dougall.
  Northwest Broadcasting is the licensee of the low power English-language radio station CFQK-FM serving Kaministiquia, Ontario and its rebroadcaster CKED-FM serving Shuniah Township. Northwest Broadcasting also owns and controls 1333598 Ontario Limited, licensee of two tourist low power English-language radio stations CIPR-FM Pigeon River and CITB-FM Thunder Bay.
  The Commission approved the application for a licence for CFQK-FM on September 15, 2000, in Decision CRTC 2000-387 and the licence for its transmitter CKED-FM was granted on November 21, 2002, in Decision CRTC 2002-380.
  The Commission approved the application for a licence for CITB-FM on November 29, 2000 in Decision CRTC 2000-742 and the licence for CIPR-FM was granted on September 12, 2001 in Decision CRTC 2001-574.
  H.F. Dougall controls two radio stations
(CJSD-FM and CKPR) and two conventional television stations (CKPR-TV and CHFD-TV) in Thunder Bay through its subsidiaries C.J.S.D. Incorporated and Thunder Bay Electronics. Furthermore, H.F. Dougall owns a weekly newspaper, the TB Source.
