Call for comments on a proposed framework for the licensing and distribution of high definition pay and specialty services

Extension of deadline for submission of comments

1.

In Call for comments on a proposed framework for the licensing and distribution of high definition pay and specialty services, Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-58, 6 August 2004 (Public Notice 2004-58), the Commission invited interested parties to file comments concerning its proposed regulatory framework on or before 5 November 2004. In Public Notice 2004-58, the Commission also stated that it intended to issue a second public notice, which would call for comments on additional questions related to the migration of pay and specialty services to a digital distribution environment (the migration notice). Parties responding to Public Notice 2004-58 were encouraged to consider the issues that would be set out in that second public notice.

2.

In a letter dated 4 October 2004, the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA) noted that the Commission has not yet issued the migration notice, and requested that the Commission extend the comment period with regard to Public Notice 2004-58 until at least 60 days following the release of the migration notice.

3.

The Commission grants the CCTA's request and extends the deadline for comments established in Public Notice 2004-58 to 7 February 2005.
